Your Navigator

Guiding you to your new destination

When you're in the middle of a separation, you don't just need someone who's read the books. You need someone who has sat across from people in genuine crisis, stayed calm under pressure, and found a way through. That's the work I did for nearly three decades - and it's what I bring to every client I work with now.

I'm a New Zealand-born coach, mediator, and former police crisis negotiator. After completing my master's degree, I spent years working across the Americas, Europe, and Asia before returning to Auckland and joining the police in 1995. Over the years I moved through a series of roles, all with one thing in common: people in difficult situations who needed someone to help them find a way forward. Becoming a crisis negotiator was a turning point - it sharpened my ability to stay grounded when everything around me was anything but, and I realised those skills had value well beyond the job.

I've been through my own share of separations and relationship endings. What makes my experience a little different is that none of them were bitter or destructive. Because I understood the dynamics at play and had the tools to manage them, every one of those relationships ended with both people still able to talk, co-operate, and move forward with dignity. That's not something I say to boast - it's something I say because I want you to know that the outcomes I work towards with clients are outcomes I've actually lived.

Away from work, I'm most at home on the water. As a commercially qualified skipper, I've sailed my yacht through the Pacific Islands - long ocean passages that have a way of teaching you a great deal about patience, self-reliance, and what really matters.

My professional memberships and qualifications exist because I believe that the people I work with deserve someone who is genuinely accountable to a professional standard - not just someone who means well. I'm a member of AMINZ (the professional body for mediators in New Zealand) and the Resolution Institute, the Australasian body for dispute resolution professionals. I hold a specialist divorce and separation certification from the DCA, alongside an ICF coaching qualification. I comply with the codes of ethics of both professional bodies.

If you're ready to move through this chapter with more clarity and less damage than you thought possible, I'd welcome the conversation.
